Board a private charter vessel on Lough Foyle — one of Europe's great estuaries — to seek out the resident common seal colony, bottlenose dolphins and rare seabirds in their natural habitat. A truly intimate wildlife encounter.
What to expect
The charter departs Greencastle Harbour and glides into the calm waters of Lough Foyle, one of Ireland's most important estuarine habitats. Common seals lounge on sandbanks just metres from the bow. Gannets plunge offshore, and if conditions allow, the skipper heads toward open water where dolphins are regularly spotted. The return journey skirts the Magilligan shore with views back to the Antrim hills.
Good to know
Departures are tide and weather dependent — confirm 48 hours before port call. Bring binoculars, a warm layer (the Foyle estuary is bracing even in summer) and waterproof shoes. Pre-book directly by phone or online form.
