Paddle a sea-kayak through mist-draped channels at sunrise, weaving past water buffalo, kingfishers, and stilted fishing villages that only reveal themselves from water level — Vinh Long's wildest and most intimate perspective.
What to expect
Launching before 6:00 AM, you slip away from the main river into channels so narrow the canopy closes overhead, creating a green tunnel alive with birdsong. Your experienced guide identifies kingfishers, herons, and the occasional river otter darting beneath your hull. You pause at a floating fish farm to watch the morning feed — a spectacle of leaping catfish — before pulling ashore at a riverside stilt-house community for a simple but memorable Vietnamese breakfast of bánh mì and iced cà phê sữa đá. The return paddle is bathed in full morning light, the Mekong shimmering gold.
Good to know
No kayaking experience required — stable sit-on-top kayaks are used. Depart by 5:45 AM; the full experience is 4 hours, well within a typical port day. Reef-safe sunscreen and a dry bag for your camera are strongly recommended. Pre-book at least 48 hours ahead.
