Scenic Rhine Gorge Day Cruise: Mainz to St. Goar & Back

Glide through the UNESCO Rhine Gorge, past legendary Lorelei Rock, fortress-crowned crags, and vine-draped valleys on a classic river day cruise — Germany's most cinematic waterway, seen from the water.

What to expect

Board an elegant KD Rhine vessel in Mainz and settle on the open upper deck as the city's skyline gives way to the legendary Rhine Gorge. Castle after castle crowns the cliffs — Rheinstein, Gutenfels, the intact Marksburg — while the famous Lorelei rock looms dramatically mid-river. The onboard restaurant serves regional wines and classic German cuisine, making this as much a culinary as a scenic journey. At St. Goar, you can step ashore to explore the ruins of Rheinfels Castle before boarding the return sailing.

Good to know

KD Rhine departs from Mainz's central Rhine landing stages, minutes from the cruise terminal. Confirm morning departure times to allow for a return by late afternoon. Pre-booking in peak summer (June–August) is strongly advised.
