Glide by private motorboat to the island temple of Isis at Philae — rescued from the Nile's rising waters and reassembled stone by stone — as the setting sun turns the granite pink. A living myth, afloat on the Nile.
What to expect
Board your private felucca-style motorboat at Shellal Dock for the short crossing to Agilkia Island. Walk the colonnaded forecourt, the twin pylons, and the Hypostyle Hall with an expert who brings the mythology to life. The late-afternoon light across the First Cataract is extraordinary. The Sound & Light Show (optional evening add-on) is one of Egypt's best.
Good to know
Temple opens 07:00–17:00 (winter) / 07:00–18:00 (summer). The site is 8 km south of central Aswan — allow 15 minutes by taxi or private transfer. Pre-book the motorboat crossing in advance; independent walk-up prices are EGP 100–150 per person for a shared boat.
