Go behind the scenes of Beijing's culinary soul — tour a bustling wet market with a local chef, then hand-fold dumplings in a private cooking class and eat every single one. An intimate, delicious deep-dive into Chinese food culture.
What to expect
Transfer from Tianjin Port to Beijing (approx. 1.5 hrs by private vehicle) and meet your host chef at a local wet market, where you'll learn to select fresh pork, cabbage, ginger, and aromatics like a local. Back in the cooking studio, you'll learn the art of making dumpling dough from scratch, crafting the folds, and achieving the perfect pleated seal. The class is hands-on, laughter-filled, and ends with a communal feast of everything you've made — steamed, pan-fried, and boiled. A recipe card goes home with you.
Good to know
Classes typically run 3–4 hours; combined with transfers, allow a full day. Book at least 5 days in advance — class sizes are capped. Dietary requirements (vegetarian dumplings, no pork) can usually be accommodated with advance notice. Comfortable, casual clothing recommended — aprons provided.
