Harvest vanilla, clove and turmeric from a working spice plantation, then cook a lavish Sasak feast from scratch under a master chef's guidance — Indonesia's most flavour-forward cultural half-day.
What to expect
Your guide drives you to a fragrant working spice garden outside Mataram, where the owner walks you through dozens of spices that once made these islands the most coveted on Earth. You then move to a traditional family compound where a gifted home cook guides you through three Sasak dishes — ayam taliwang, plecing kangkung and pelecing — using a wood-fire stove and hand-ground pastes. The meal is served open-air, paired with fresh coconut water and palm-sugar sweets.
