Launch from Stornoway Harbour on a high-speed RIB or private cruiser into the Minch and the open Atlantic — scanning for minke whales, white-tailed eagles, bottlenose dolphins, and vast gannet colonies in one of Europe's richest marine wildlife corridors.
What to expect
Suited in a provided dry-suit or float jacket, you board a rigid inflatable at Stornoway Harbour and head north into the Minch. The skipper — a lifetime local fisherman — reads the water for tell-tale signs of minke whale blow or dolphin bow-waves. Gannet colonies on the sea stacks are astonishing up close: 30,000 birds diving at 60mph. Grey and common seals haul out on every skerry. On a calm day the skipper may push west toward the open Atlantic swell for a truly elemental experience.
