Immerse yourself in Finland's most iconic ritual at Löyly — a celebrated waterfront sauna pavilion where smoke-scented steam, the crack of birch whisks, and an exhilarating plunge into the Baltic define the Finnish soul.
What to expect
Löyly's award-winning timber pavilion hugs the Helsinki shoreline in the Hernesaari district, just 2 km from the cruise terminal. Choose between a smoke sauna and a traditional wood-burning sauna, heating to a cleansing 80–100°C before stepping off the private platform into the Baltic Sea. The ritual is repeated — sauna, swim, sauna, swim — at a pace that is gloriously your own. Afterwards, settle into the restaurant for smoked salmon, gravlax, or reindeer with a glass of local craft beer or aquavit as the harbour light fades.
Good to know
Book your sauna slot well in advance online — time slots sell out, especially in summer. A taxi or short tram ride (Tram 9) from the terminal takes 10–15 minutes. Allow 2.5–3 hours. The restaurant does not require a sauna booking — ideal if you prefer to dine only.
