Spend a focused shore session under the guidance of a professional expedition photographer, capturing Monumental Island's otherworldly Arctic scenery, wildlife, and ethereal light. This is bucket-list photography in one of Earth's least-visited landscapes.
What to expect
Working in a group of no more than 4 with a professional wildlife and landscape photographer, you'll be Zodiac-landed at carefully scouted positions around the island for the most photogenic angles on walrus colonies, dramatic cliff faces, and open Arctic seascapes. The photographer coaches composition, exposure settings for high-contrast ice environments, and techniques for capturing wildlife in motion. The session is timed to maximise the extraordinary quality of Arctic light, which can shift from golden to blue-white within minutes. You leave with portfolio-quality images and the skills to replicate them.
Good to know
Bring your own camera body; the guide will advise on ideal lenses (200–500mm recommended for wildlife). A waterproof camera bag is essential aboard the Zodiac. Book well in advance as photography slots are capped at 4 participants. Confirm the session's tidal landing window with the operator.
