The Bay of Fundy is one of Earth's premier whale-watching grounds — massive tidal upwelling feeds one of the densest concentrations of humpback, finback, and minke whales anywhere on the Atlantic. Board a naturalist-led vessel for close, unhurried encounters.
What to expect
Departing directly from Saint John's uptown waterfront, your zodiac-style vessel races into the open bay where tidal upwelling concentrates krill and fish — and the whales that follow them. Your onboard naturalist identifies individuals by fluke markings and narrates live feeding behaviour. On a single outing it is common to encounter humpbacks, finbacks, harbour porpoise, and bald eagles. The 2–2.5 hour tour is exhilarating, intimate, and leaves plenty of time before all-aboard.
Good to know
Departures are weather-dependent; book the earliest available slot to maximise your margin before all-aboard. Dress in layers — the bay is 10°C cooler than the dock. Bring binoculars. Book direct at the link above.
