Hurtle down the world's largest urban sand dune on a board, with the Pacific glittering below — an adrenaline set-piece that is utterly unique to Iquique. A bucket-list pairing of desert and ocean in one frame.
What to expect
Your guide transports you to the base of Cerro Dragón, a colossal dune that rises directly above the city grid. After a briefing and equipment fitting, you hike to a chosen ridgeline with panoramic ocean views. Multiple descents are included, each more confident than the last. The guide photographs and films your runs, and transfers you back to port with time to spare.
Good to know
The activity takes 2–3 hours from port; easily combined with a city tour. Wear sunscreen and bring sunglasses — the desert sun and reflected sand are intense. Closed-toe shoes and a change of clothes recommended (sand gets everywhere).
