Wind through the Northern Range on one of the Caribbean's most scenic coastal drives to arrive at Maracas Bay — a crescent of golden sand backed by jungle peaks — then feast on Trinidad's legendary Shark & Bake street food at its birthplace.
What to expect
The sinuous mountain drive alone earns its reputation — jungle waterfalls and ocean panoramas unfold at every bend. At Maracas, you have the soft surf and caramel sand largely to yourself in the morning hours. Your guide introduces you to the vendor stalls, ordering the classic shark fillet in fried bake bread with chadon beni, pepper sauce, and tamarind. A swim, a cold Carib beer, and the drive back complete a perfect Trinidad morning.
Good to know
Maracas is 45 minutes from the cruise terminal. A private round-trip transfer is strongly recommended for comfort and timing. Depart by 8 AM to enjoy the beach before midday crowds arrive and to return well ahead of all-aboard. Sunscreen and a beach bag are all you need.
