Scale Ilha Grande's iconic 980 m peak at first light with a private expert guide, emerging above the cloud line at sunrise for a 360° panorama of emerald islands, turquoise bays, and the Serra da Bocaina mountains.
What to expect
Pre-dawn, your guide meets you at Abraão for the 2.5-hour ascent through dense Atlantic Forest, home to howler monkeys, toucans, and golden lion tamarins. Trails are steep and dramatic; the guide navigates every fork confidently in the dark. Cresting the rocky summit as the sun ignites the horizon is a jaw-dropping, deeply private moment — the whole of Ilha Grande Bay laid out below you. The descent returns through birdsong and dappled morning light, finishing in time for a relaxed breakfast before your ship departs.
Good to know
Departure from Abraão is typically 04:30–05:00 to reach the summit at sunrise; confirm exact timing against your all-aboard. Wear proper trail shoes and bring a light rain layer — the summit can be cool and misty. This is a strenuous 5–6 hour return trek; moderate-to-good fitness required. Pre-book well in advance as private slots are limited.
