Paddle the glassy, sheltered waters of Queen Charlotte Sound with a certified guide, ducking into hidden coves and drifting past lush native bush. An intimate, human-powered perspective no boat can match.
What to expect
After a thorough safety and paddling briefing at the Picton foreshore, you set out across the glittering Sound in a stable sit-on-top sea kayak. Your guide leads you through sheltered bays where the water is so clear you can count the pebbles three metres below. Native bush tumbles to the waterline, alive with tūī and bellbird song. You'll pull up on a deserted beach for refreshments, breathing in the salt-and-pine air before paddling gently back — arms pleasantly tired, spirit thoroughly replenished.
