Blast across Corsica's turquoise west coast to Scandola — a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of volcanic red cliffs — then lunch in the car-free village of Girolata. This is Corsica at its most impossibly beautiful, and it's only reachable by sea.
What to expect
Depart from Ajaccio or Porto by powerful RIB, cutting through emerald water to the Scandola Reserve where osprey nest on blood-red volcanic peaks. The skipper idles into sea grottoes and below sheer cliffs before anchoring off Girolata — a perfect horseshoe bay with no road access. Lunch at a waterfront auberge on grilled fish and Corsican charcuterie, then a leisurely return cruise past the Calanques of Piana.
Good to know
Scandola is on the west coast (~3 hrs from Bastia by road/transfer). Pre-arrange a private transfer or hire a car to reach the departure port. Book the private RIB charter well in advance as summer dates fill fast. Check your ship's all-aboard time — this is a full-day experience of 7–8 hrs.
