Immerse yourself in 350 years of Swedish naval power at the Marinmuseum, set within Karlskrona's UNESCO World Heritage naval base. Explore real warships, figurehead halls, and the atmospheric Stumholmen island setting — utterly unmissable.
What to expect
The Marinmuseum occupies the historic island of Stumholmen, surrounded by the very naval dry-docks it celebrates. Inside, you'll find one of Europe's finest collections of naval artefacts — including a stunning gallery of carved wooden figureheads, interactive submarine exhibits, and the preserved royal barge. Outside, the restored rope-walk and 17th-century shipyard buildings provide a cinematic backdrop. On a clear day, the views across the harbour to the archipelago are extraordinary.
Good to know
The museum is walkable (approx. 15 minutes) from the cruise terminal via the Kungsbron bridge. Allow 2–3 hours minimum to do it justice. The museum café is excellent for a Swedish fika break. Book tickets online in advance to skip any queues.
