Ascend the dramatic volcanic ridgeline above Yasawa village with an expert local guide for panoramic views across the entire island chain — a raw, exhilarating perspective of the archipelago that no beach or boat can match. One of Fiji's great undiscovered hikes.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at the trailhead and sets a steady pace up a trail that winds through tropical dry forest, past ancient village sites, and onto an exposed ridge with 360-degree views of the Yasawa chain stretching into the Pacific. At the summit, the guide shares the ancestral history of the islands and points out landmarks visible on clear days all the way to the Mamanucas. The descent follows a different route, passing a spring-fed stream where you can cool off before the return transfer.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required — the ascent gains approximately 300m over 2–3 hours. Wear proper trail shoes (not flip-flops), bring at least 1.5L of water, sunscreen, and a light rain layer. Book in advance and confirm the morning departure slot to maximise time before afternoon heat.
