Step inside the Sun King's breathtaking palace and lose yourself in 2,000 acres of sculpted gardens, fountains and the Grand Canal. With a private guide and the all-access Passport ticket, you move at your own pace through gilded state apartments most visitors only glimpse.
What to expect
Arrive early to walk the Hall of Mirrors before the midday crowds. Your guide reveals the diplomatic theatre staged in every gilded room, from Louis XIV's lever ceremonies to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Stroll the geometric Le Nôtre gardens, pausing at the Neptune Fountain, then explore Marie-Antoinette's fairytale hamlet. On musical fountain days (spring–autumn), the gardens erupt into choreographed water spectacle set to baroque music.
