Sansone is consistently Elba's highest-rated beach — a scimitar of blinding white quartz pebbles, electric-turquoise water, and dramatic limestone cliffs just 10 minutes from the port. An effortlessly beautiful afternoon that defines the Mediterranean ideal.
What to expect
The water at Sansone is a surreal layered blue — shallow turquoise giving way to deep sapphire — thanks to the white quartz seabed. Snorkelling directly off the beach reveals grouper, sea bream and octopus in crystal visibility. A small beach bar serves fresh granita, cold drinks and light seafood plates. The cliffs that frame the cove mean it stays sheltered even in a light breeze.
Good to know
Hire a private taxi at the Portoferraio pier — approx. EUR 15–20 for the 10-minute ride. Go early (by 09:30) to secure the best sunbeds; it fills by midday in summer. Easy to combine with a stop at neighbouring Capo Bianco beach on the way back.
