Paddle the mirror-calm inner channels of Chiloé by sea kayak, drifting past palafitos, kelp forests, and nesting cormorants at water level — the single most intimate way to experience this archipelago's legendary beauty.
What to expect
After a safety and paddling briefing at the waterfront, you launch from Castro's harbour and head south along the shoreline, where the palafitos of Gamboa cast long reflections into the still water. The guide leads you into sheltered kelp-forested coves alive with sea otters, shags, and the occasional Magellanic penguin passing through on migration. The pace is relaxed — you pause to float, photograph, and simply absorb one of Patagonia's most painterly landscapes from its most privileged vantage point. Hot tea and local pastries are served on a shingle beach before the return paddle.
