Inside the Archbishop's Palace where Joan of Arc was sentenced, a state-of-the-art immersive museum brings the trial — and the woman — to extraordinary life. One of France's most original historical experiences.
What to expect
Costumed guides and immersive projections place you inside the chamber where Joan was interrogated and condemned. Six successive rooms trace her military campaigns, capture, trial and burning, using original trial transcripts as the script. The building itself — ancient stone vaulting, original Gothic windows — is part of the drama. The adjacent Cathédrale Notre-Dame and the Place du Vieux-Marché are steps away for a natural continuation.
Good to know
Timed-entry tickets sell out in high season — pre-book at historial-jeannedarc.fr. Visits last approximately 1 hour. The museum is a 10-minute walk from the Rouen port shuttle drop-off. Combine with the Gros-Horloge belfry (EUR 7.70 direct, included in the Rouen Pass) and the plague cemetery for a full half-day in the medieval city.
