Arctic Sea Kayaking Among Icebergs in Skjoldungen

Paddle a sea kayak silently through iceberg-studded waters in one of the most remote fjord systems on Earth, with the glaciated peaks of Southeast Greenland rising on every side. The closeness to the ice from a kayak is simply unmatched.

What to expect

After a paddle briefing from a certified sea-kayak guide, you launch in a small group of no more than eight guests, weaving between bergs that range from floating coffee-table chips to skyscraper-scale blue cathedrals. The guide leads you to sheltered coves, teaches you to read iceberg stability, and shares insights into the marine ecosystem beneath you. Harbour seals often pop up alongside inquisitively. The two-hour paddle concludes with hot chocolate and a debrief on the Zodiac tender.

Good to know

Previous kayak experience helpful but not required — a full safety briefing and pool-style practice is given. Dry suits are mandatory and provided. Do not approach unstable icebergs. Book through Oceanwide at least 8 weeks ahead; kayak slots are very limited per departure.
