Step inside a vast wartime submarine base transformed into Europe's largest digital art centre — monumental projections of Klimt, Cézanne, or Monet cascading across 12,000 m² of dark water and concrete for a truly otherworldly experience.
What to expect
The former German submarine pens of Bordeaux — vast, brutalist, and eerily beautiful — have been reinvented by Culturespaces as a digital art basilica. The main show projects the complete works of a major artist (past editions: Klimt, Monet, Cézanne, Banksy) across walls, floor, and the black mirror of still water below, with music composed to match. The scale is staggering: projections climb 8 metres above reflections that double them. A second, smaller 'Aquarium Numérique' experience runs concurrently. Budget 90 minutes minimum; many visitors stay for two full cycles of the show.
