Paddle a private-guided sea kayak through the sheltered archipelago around Nain — a labyrinth of granite islands, hidden coves, and mirror-calm channels alive with seabirds and seals at every stroke.
What to expect
After a 20-minute safety and technique briefing at the put-in, you glide into waters where the only sounds are paddles and the distant calls of Arctic terns. The guide leads through kelp-fringed channels where harbour seals haul out on warm rock slabs within metres of your bow. A mid-paddle landing on an uninhabited island reveals lichen-covered boulders, crowberry carpets, and sweeping views back toward the Torngat peaks. The return paddle often coincides with afternoon light that turns the water gold and the icebergs rose.
Good to know
No prior kayaking experience required; the guide adjusts technique coaching to each guest. Dry suits are provided. Depart within the first 2 hours of arriving in port to leave buffer time before all-aboard. Weather-dependent — the operator will advise on sea state on the morning of arrival.
