What to expect
You cross the island to the windswept eastern cape where the ruins of Poliochni spread across a low promontory above the sea. Your guide — a specialist in Aegean prehistory — brings the excavated streets, granaries, and assembly hall to life, explaining why Italian archaeologists have worked here for nearly a century. Back in Myrina, the Archaeological Museum houses the exquisite gold jewellery, ceramics, and artefacts unearthed here, including pieces that rival finds from Mycenae. The site is remote and sun-exposed; bring water and a hat. Museum is closed on Tuesdays — confirm your port day before booking. Site entry is payable at the gate (approx EUR 4 per person). Allow 4–5 hours total for both sites.
