Drift through the legendary Arborek Jetty channel where oceanic and reef manta rays glide effortlessly on the current — one of the most reliable manta encounters on the planet, just minutes from Mansuar by boat.
What to expect
The channel beside Arborek's stilted village funnels nutrient-rich currents that draw manta rays in extraordinary numbers — wingspans of up to five metres pass within arm's reach as you drift effortlessly. Your guide reads the tide and current to place you at the perfect vantage point, then signals silently when a manta materialises from the blue. Between manta runs, the surrounding reef bursts with pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, and jewel-like nudibranchs. The nearby traditional village of Arborek offers a brief cultural pause, with women weaving pandanus-leaf hats under open-air pavilions.
Good to know
Best manta activity is on an incoming tide; your guide will time the trip accordingly. No fins-touching or chasing mantas — rules are strictly observed. Arborek is a 20–30 min speedboat ride from Mansuar. Confirm your all-aboard time and build in at least 30 minutes of buffer.
