Abseiling the Burj Khalifa means being strapped into a harness on a platform near the top and walking backwards down the outside of the world’s tallest building for several hundred feet. The experience is short – usually 10-15 minutes of actual descent – but the adrenaline hit is real. You’ll feel wind, hear the city far below, and get an utterly unique perspective on Dubai’s skyline that no observation deck can match. It’s completely safe when done with professional operators, but it’s not for anyone scared of heights or strong winds. The whole visit, including briefing, elevator rides, and photos, takes about two hours.
Best time is November to March when temperatures are cooler and wind conditions are usually calmer. Summer is brutally hot and often cancels due to wind. Expect to pay around $400–650 per person depending on the package and group size. Book the full experience that includes the abseil plus access to the observation decks rather than just the rappel; the views from 124/125 or the Sky deck beforehand are worth it. Skip the add-on photo packages if you’re on a budget – your phone on a selfie stick works fine and the guides will usually take a couple of shots for you anyway.
