The São Paulo aquarium is a solid half-day activity if you're traveling with kids or really into marine life. It's the largest in Latin America and packs in a wide range of species: sharks, rays, colorful reef fish, plus an odd mix of reptiles, birds, and even small mammals in well-designed habitats. Expect crowds on weekends, lots of school groups, and a modern but not spectacular facility. The underwater tunnels and penguin area are the clear highlights; the experience feels more like a good regional zoo-aquarium hybrid than a world-class oceanarium. Plan on 2–3 hours inside.
Best time is weekdays, especially mornings, to avoid the worst crowds. Rainy season (December–March) can mean longer lines, but the building is fully indoors so weather isn't a deal-breaker. Expect to pay around $25–40 per adult for tickets, more if you add a guided tour or combo package. Families should budget extra for food and transport since it's a bit outside the main tourist zones.
Tip: Go early on a Tuesday or Wednesday and head straight for the shark tunnel and Pacific exhibit first—they get bottlenecked later. Skip the overpriced on-site café and the gift shop unless you need souvenirs; both are average. If you're short on time or on a tight budget, this one is skippable in favor of parks or museums.
