Art Deco Architecture Tour in Casablanca

Casablanca’s Art Deco district is a compact, walkable cluster of 1920s–1950s buildings mixing European modernism with Moroccan details—think geometric facades, wrought-iron balconies, and faded tilework. A typical half-day tour lasts 3–4 hours and covers the old European quarter around Boulevard Mohammed V and Rue Ibn Batouta. You’ll see banks, apartment blocks, and cinemas that look like modest cousins of Miami Beach or Havana. Expect some buildings in poor repair; the charm is in the ensemble rather than pristine perfection. Guides usually explain the French colonial history and point out hidden Moorish influences most visitors miss. It’s straightforward sightseeing—pleasant but not jaw-dropping.

Best time is spring (March–May) or fall (October–November) when temperatures are comfortable for walking. Summer is brutally hot and winter can be rainy. Expect to pay around $45–90 per person for a small-group tour including pickup; private tours run $130–220 depending on group size. Entry to a couple of restored interiors is sometimes included.

Pick the morning slot to avoid midday heat and harsh light for photos. Skip the add-on “full-day” version that drags you to the Hassan II Mosque and beaches unless you really want the whole checklist—stick to the city-center Art Deco walk instead. Wear comfortable shoes; many sidewalks are uneven.
