ATV Desert Tours in Las Vegas: Worth It?

An ATV desert tour outside Las Vegas is basically three or four hours of riding through scrubby valleys and rocky trails with some modest sand dunes mixed in. You’ll get dust, wind, and decent views of the mountains, but it’s not the dramatic red-rock scenery you see in Moab or Sedona. Expect a safety briefing, basic instruction if you’ve never ridden, and a guide who keeps the group together. It’s fun if you like being outdoors and driving something, but it can feel touristy once you realize half the people out there are also on guided tours from the Strip.

Best time is October through April when it’s not brutally hot. Summer tours run early morning or at sunset but you’re still looking at 100+ degrees on the sand. Expect to pay around $150–$250 per person depending on whether you ride solo or double up, how long the tour is, and whether transport from the Strip is included. Longer private tours or dune-heavy ones sit at the higher end.

Tip: choose a morning departure to avoid the worst heat and crowds. Skip the add-on “VIP” or “premium” packages unless you really want the open-bar after-party; the actual riding experience is almost identical. Wear closed shoes, long pants, and bring a bandana or buff for the dust.
