Should You Visit a Beer Museum in Brussels?

Expect a mix of history, brewing basics, and generous tasting sessions. The main museum in the old Stock Exchange building walks you through Belgian beer culture with decent exhibits, short films, and a rooftop bar where you redeem a included drink. It’s informative but not life-changing — more polished exhibit than immersive experience. A smaller brewery tour option gets you inside an actual working space, usually with a guide explaining the process and two or three fresh samples. Both last 1–2 hours and leave you slightly buzzed but not drunk.

Best time is spring or early fall on weekdays to avoid crowds. Summer weekends get packed with tourists and the spaces feel cramped. Expect to pay around €15–25 for the main museum experience including one beer; guided brewery tours run €30–45 depending on group size and extras. Add a few euros if you want more drinks afterward.

Tip: Skip the big museum if you’re short on time or already know basic beer history — go straight for a real microbrewery tour instead. If you do the museum, save your free drink token for one of the better local brews on the top floor rather than the generic lager they push first. Bring cash for the bar; card isn’t always accepted everywhere.
