Is a Segway Tour Worth It in Brussels?

A Segway tour is one of the fastest and least exhausting ways to see central Brussels. Expect to spend about two hours rolling past the Grand Place, the Manneken Pis, the European Parliament area, and a few less obvious spots like quiet parks or street art zones. The guide stops every 15-20 minutes to explain what you're looking at, so it's more sightseeing with wheels than a thrill ride. You'll get a quick training session first; most people feel comfortable after ten minutes. It's genuinely fun on flat cobblestones but you'll still feel the occasional bump. Weather matters: rain makes the machines slippery and the experience miserable.

Best time is April to early June or September-October when temperatures are mild and crowds are manageable. Summer can be hot and congested; winter is cold, wet, and many tours run less frequently. Expect to pay around €55-85 per person for a standard 2-hour group tour. Private tours or longer routes push closer to €110-150.

Tip: Choose the small-group morning tour if you can. The city feels calmer, light is better for photos, and guides tend to share more relaxed stories. Skip the evening "beer tour" versions unless you're mainly after the novelty of drinking while riding; the alcohol focus usually cuts the actual sightseeing short and the buzz wears off quickly once you're moving.
