Big Apple Coaster in Las Vegas: Worth It?

The Big Apple Coaster sits right on the Las Vegas Strip at the New York-New York hotel. It's a proper steel coaster with drops, loops, and a top speed around 67 mph that whips you past a miniature Manhattan skyline. The ride lasts under three minutes but gives surprisingly good views of the Strip, especially at night when everything lights up. Expect some serious rattling on the older trains; the newer ones feel smoother. After you get off, the attached arcade is a decent way to kill time with classic games and some prize machines. Lines can stretch long on busy evenings, so factor in 30-60 minutes total for the experience.

Expect to pay around $25-40 for a single ride ticket, or look at multi-ride and all-day options if you're doing it with kids or want repeats. Spring and fall are ideal; milder temperatures mean shorter lines and more comfortable waits. Summer is brutal with desert heat, and winter evenings can get chilly at speed. Go early afternoon on a weekday if you can.

Honest tip: buy your ticket online ahead of time so you skip the worst of the ticket window line. Skip the arcade if you're short on time or money; it's fun but nothing special compared to the ride itself. If you're prone to motion sickness, take it easy on the loops and consider riding after you've eaten rather than before.
