Expect a real Bahamian beach experience: calm turquoise water, decent snorkeling close to shore in some spots, and a mix of locals and cruise passengers. It’s free to visit and easy to reach by taxi or tour. The water is usually clear and warm, but it can get busy midday when excursion groups arrive. It’s a proper beach day spot rather than a secluded paradise – you’ll see jet skis, vendors, and music playing from nearby spots.

Best time is December to April when the weather is driest and seas are calmest. Expect to pay around $75–$130 per person for a half-day guided tour that includes transport, snorkel gear, and a boat ride along the coast. Independent visitors pay $25–$40 round-trip taxi from the port plus $20–$40 for rentals or drinks. One honest tip: book a small-group boat trip that cruises past the million-dollar homes if you want variety; skip the ATV tours unless you specifically love riding – they’re hot, dusty, and eat up beach time. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and cash for vendors.
