A typical camel trek in Dubai is a short, gentle ride through the desert dunes, usually lasting 30–90 minutes. Don’t expect an epic Lawrence of Arabia journey; most experiences are tourist-oriented and combined with dune bashing in 4x4s, sandboarding, and a BBQ dinner with belly dancing at a desert camp. The actual riding part is slow and stable — camels are led in a line — but the motion feels surprisingly unsteady if you’re not used to it. Sunset rides are the most popular because the light is beautiful and the temperature is bearable.

The best time is November to March when daytime temperatures stay comfortable. Skip summer completely unless you enjoy riding in 40°C+ heat. Expect to pay around $35–$90 per person depending on duration and inclusions. Basic 30–45 minute rides start at the lower end; longer treks with dinner and transfers push toward the higher figure. Private or overnight options cost significantly more.

Pick a smaller-group sunset ride that includes actual dune time rather than just circling a camp. Skip anything that advertises “long distance trek” unless you’re an experienced rider — most are still quite tame.
