Caminito is a short, brightly painted pedestrian street in La Boca filled with colorful conventillo houses, tango performers, street artists, and souvenir stalls. On a typical tour you'll spend 30-45 minutes there as part of a larger half-day city circuit that usually includes Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, and a quick stop at the Boca Juniors stadium. Expect crowds, hawkers trying to sell you photos with dancers, and a very touristy vibe. It's visually striking for about ten minutes; after that it starts to feel like a theme park. The surrounding neighborhood remains rough, so tours keep you on the main strip and move on quickly.

The best time to go is spring (October-December) or fall (March-May) when the weather is mild and Buenos Aires feels alive. Summer is brutally hot and humid; winter is chilly but less crowded. Expect to pay around $60-120 per person for a half-day small-group or private tour including transport and a guide. Independent visitors can simply take a taxi or Uber to La Boca and walk the street for free, though joining a tour is safer.

Tip: choose a morning tour that starts in the historic center rather than one that only does La Boca; it gives better flow and context.
