Expect a steep but short climb (about 30-45 minutes up) rewarded with sweeping views over the Baie des Anges, the old town rooftops, and the Mediterranean. The top has ruins, a small cemetery, a waterfall, and plenty of benches. The walk itself mixes paved paths, dirt trails, and staircases. It's not a wilderness hike – you're never far from crowds or cafés – but the elevation gain is real. Most people combine it with wandering the Old Town below. The whole loop from the beach and back can take 2–3 hours at a relaxed pace.
Best time is spring (April–June) or fall (September–October) when it's warm but not brutally hot. Summer crowds are heavy and the sun is punishing on the exposed sections; winter can be pleasant if you pick a clear day. Expect to pay around €15–35 per person if you join a guided walking tour that includes the hill, or nothing if you do it independently. A drink or snack at the top adds another €5–8.
Tip: Skip the tourist train and walk up from the Old Town side – it's more rewarding and you control the pace. Do bring water and wear proper shoes; flip-flops on the steeper dirt bits are a bad idea. If you're short on time or energy, just take the elevator up and walk down.
