Catamaran Snorkeling in Aruba: Worth It?

A typical half-day catamaran snorkel trip runs about 3–4 hours and usually includes two or three stops. You’ll spend most of the time at the Antilla shipwreck, where the shallow, calm water lets you easily snorkel around the large wreck and see tropical fish, corals, and the occasional ray or turtle. The boat then moves to a second reef site with more marine life. Expect a party-boat atmosphere with loud music, free drinks (rum punch flows early), and a lunch or snack served on board. The water is warm and clear most of the year, but the experience is social rather than tranquil.

The best time to go is April through October when seas are calmer and visibility is usually better; December–March can be windier, which sometimes shortens the trip or makes the ride bumpier. Expect to pay around $60–$95 per person depending on whether you choose a basic tour or one with better food, smaller groups, or extra frills. Book a morning departure if you want clearer heads and fewer crowds on the reefs.

Tip: Pick a smaller catamaran (under 30 people) if you want actual snorkeling time instead of a floating bar. Skip the full-day versions unless you really love being on a boat; most people are ready to get off after four hours.
