Barcelona Cathedral: Worth Visiting?

The Barcelona Cathedral is a proper working Gothic church in the middle of the old city. Expect soaring vaults, detailed stonework, a peaceful cloister with geese, and a surprisingly intimate feel compared to the bombastic Sagrada Familia. The main floor is free to enter but you'll want the ticket that gets you into the choir, roof terraces, and museum areas. It's atmospheric inside but can feel crowded and noisy when tour groups pile in. The rooftop offers decent city views without the massive lines you get at other landmarks.

Best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon, especially in spring or fall when it's cooler and the light is better. Summer gets hot and packed; winter is quieter but darker by 6pm. Expect to pay around €15-20 per adult including the full access ticket and audio guide. Kids are roughly half price.

Pick the roof access if you only have time for one add-on; the views and breeze are genuinely pleasant. Skip the museum basement unless you're really into religious artifacts. Combine it with a wander through the Gothic Quarter rather than treating it as a standalone stop. Wear respectful clothing (shoulders and knees covered) and keep your voice down. It's a solid choice if you like historic churches, less essential if your time is tight.
