A typical Kuala Lumpur city tour puts you in either a small van with 8-12 people or an open-top double-decker bus. You'll drive past the Petronas Towers, KL Tower, Merdeka Square, Chinatown, and a few temples and mosques. Most last 3-4 hours and move at a steady pace. Traffic can be heavy, so expect some sitting around. The open bus gives better photos and breeze but gets hot and wet when it rains. Guided van tours stop at a couple of places for short walks; the bus version is mostly drive-by views.

Best time is December to February when it's slightly drier and less humid. Avoid peak haze season (July-September) if you have breathing issues. Expect to pay around $25-65 per person: hop-on hop-off bus passes sit at the lower end for flexibility, while small-group guided tours with a few stops land in the middle, and private tours push toward the higher range. Book something with free cancellation if your plans are flexible.

Pick the half-day morning tour if it's your first visit; it covers the main sights before the worst heat hits. Skip the open-top bus if rain is forecast or if you want actual explanations at each stop. The religious sites tour (mosque, temple, Batu Caves) is worth it only if you're genuinely interested in architecture and history; otherwise the standard city centre loop is enough.
