The Corniche is a long, clean, 7-8 km waterfront path lined with palm trees, shaded seating, water fountains, and a separate bike lane. You get wide views across the water to the skyline, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi if you head toward the end. It’s flat, easy, and genuinely pleasant for walking or jogging, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when the heat isn’t brutal. Expect a mix of families, expats, and tourists; it feels lived-in rather than touristy. The path is well maintained with toilets and small kiosks along the way.
Best season is November to March when temperatures are comfortable. In summer it’s brutally hot even at dusk. Expect to pay around $0–25 total: it’s completely free to walk on your own, but you’ll probably spend a bit on bottled water, coffee, or a taxi back if you don’t want to retrace your steps. A short guided drive-by tour adds $15–25 per person.
Pick the section between the Etihad Towers and the Louvre for the nicest views and shade; skip trying to walk the entire length in one go unless you start very early. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and your own water bottle—you’ll stay more comfortable and save a few dirhams.
