The Danube Tower gives you a proper 360-degree view over Vienna from 170 metres up. Expect a fast lift ride, a fairly compact indoor observation level with big windows, and an open-air platform when weather allows. You’ll see the city sprawl, the river, the Wienerwald hills, and on clear days the Alps in the distance. It’s not a thrill ride – it’s straightforward sightseeing – but the scale of the panorama beats most ground-level viewpoints. The whole visit takes 30-45 minutes unless you linger in the revolving restaurant.
Go between May and September on a clear weekday morning for the best light and fewest crowds. In winter you can still visit but low cloud or rain often kills the view; check the weather forecast the same day. Expect to pay around €15–22 for a standard adult ticket including the lift; kids and combination tickets with other attractions sit a bit lower. Skip the overpriced restaurant unless you actually want a meal with the view – the observation deck alone is enough.
