Athens Day Cruise: Worth It?

The boat is usually a large modern vessel with multiple decks, a bar, and loudspeakers. The experience is pleasant rather than magical; the islands are genuinely nicer than the crowded Athens streets in summer.

Expect to pay around $110–$160 per person for a standard full-day cruise including transfer from central Athens, onboard lunch, and basic drinks. Premium smaller-boat versions or ones with fewer stops run $180–$250. Skip the cheapest options under $90; they cut corners on food, time on islands, and comfort.

Honest tip: Choose the version that visits Hydra and Poros and skips Aegina if possible — Hydra is the clear winner. Pick a morning departure that includes a swim stop rather than an extra island. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and cash for the islands; everything else is optional.
