Disneyland in Anaheim is a compact, intensely themed park that delivers classic rides, character meet-and-greets, and that unmistakable Disney polish. Expect crowds, lots of walking, and a full sensory overload of music, lights, and sugar. It’s smaller and more manageable than the Florida resort but still easily takes 10–12 hours to do properly. From central LA you’re looking at 45–90 minutes each way depending on traffic; the drive is straightforward but can be brutal during rush hour or weekends.
The best time is mid-September through early December or late January to mid-March when crowds and Southern California heat both drop. Summer and holidays are packed and sweaty. Expect to pay around $400–750 per person for a single day including transport from LA, park ticket, food, and a couple of paid Lightning Lane passes. Hotels and multi-day tickets push it higher fast.
Pick the original Disneyland Park over California Adventure unless you really want Cars or Avengers stuff. Skip buying every snack and souvenir; the churros and dole whip are worth it, the rest is mostly average. Download the app before you arrive, set your first Lightning Lane as soon as you enter, and don’t try to do everything in one visit – you’ll enjoy it more if you slow down.
