Global Village is a massive seasonal festival that brings together pavilions from 70+ countries, each selling food, crafts, and souvenirs. Expect a lively mix of shopping, street eats from all over the world, live cultural performances, carnival rides, and evening fireworks. It’s crowded, noisy, and spread out over a huge outdoor site – more theme-park-meets-market than refined cultural experience. You’ll walk a lot, so wear comfortable shoes. Families, groups, and solo travelers all go; it works for a few hours or a full evening.
The best time is December to early February when the weather is coolest. It runs from roughly November to March, but peak season (mid-Dec to mid-Feb) has better weather and more shows. Expect to pay around $15–35 per person total: entry is cheap, but you’ll spend on food, rides, and impulse buys in the souks. A family of four can easily hit $80–150 for an evening including snacks and a few activities.
Tip: prioritize the country pavilions for interesting snacks and shopping – the Ethiopian coffee and Pakistani sweets are worth trying. Skip most of the paid rides unless you have kids; they’re average and the real fun is wandering and people-watching. Go after 4pm when it cools down and the lights come on.
