Jet Skiing in Los Cabos: Worth It?

Jet skiing in Los Cabos is a loud, fun, splashy way to see the coastline and rock formations without committing to a full boat tour. Expect 30-60 minute rentals that let you cruise around the bay, get close to El Arco, and zip through somewhat busy harbor traffic. The water is usually clear and the views are solid, but it's not a peaceful nature experience — it's fast, salty, and involves dodging other watercraft and tour boats. Most people enjoy it for the freedom and the quick adrenaline hit, especially if it's their first time in Cabo.

Best time is November through May when the Sea of Cortez is calmer and winds are lighter. Summers can be brutally hot with afternoon chop and occasional storms, so stick to mornings. Expect to pay around $80–$150 per jet ski for a 30-minute rental and $130–$220 for an hour; double riders usually cost a bit more. Guided tours with hotel pickup tend to run higher but include transport and a short briefing.

Tip: choose a 45- or 60-minute solo rental if you actually want to explore — the short 30-minute group “adventures” often feel rushed and follow a guide in a tight convoy. Skip the upsell photos and waterproof phone cases from the rental guys; bring your own GoPro or just enjoy it without trying to film everything. Wear reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard — you will get absolutely soaked.
