Kayak Tours in Dubai: What You Need to Know

A typical Dubai kayak tour puts you on calm, flat water around the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, or JBR area. Expect clear shallow water, constant views of skyscrapers and massive artificial islands, and a guide who paddles ahead and points out sights. Tours usually last 1.5 to 2.5 hours including a short briefing and safety talk. It's an easy paddle — no whitewater, no strong currents — so it's suitable for beginners and decently fit adults. You'll get decent photos of the Burj Al Arab or Burj Khalifa from the water, but it's more relaxing than adventurous. Night tours with illuminated kayaks are popular because the city lights look impressive after dark.

Best time is November to March when it's 24–28°C and humidity is tolerable. Summer kayaking is brutal — 40°C+ and high humidity make even short paddles exhausting. Expect to pay around $35–75 per person depending on duration, group size, and whether it's a daytime or sunset/night tour. Double kayaks are usually cheaper per person than singles.

Pick a morning or sunset tour if you want photos without harsh midday glare; skip the cheapest no-name operators that sometimes run with too many people and little guidance. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof phone pouch, and a small towel — most provide life jackets and basic paddles but nothing else.
