Should You Walk Lodhi Garden in Delhi?

Lodhi Garden is a peaceful, well-kept park in central Delhi filled with 15th- and 16th-century tombs and pavilions scattered among lawns, trees, and small lakes. Expect a relaxed 45-90 minute wander rather than a heavy history lesson. The paths are easy, the monuments are impressive up close, and you’ll share the space with morning walkers, joggers, yoga groups, and birds. It’s genuinely quiet compared to most Delhi attractions, especially early morning or just before sunset when the light softens the stonework. The garden feels surprisingly spacious even when moderately busy.

The best time to visit is October to March when the weather is cool and pleasant; avoid April–September unless you enjoy serious heat and humidity. Expect to pay around ₹800–1500 total for a private guided walk (including any entry if charged), or nothing at all if you simply wander on your own. A decent group tour usually lands in the lower half of that range.

Pick a morning slot if you want birdsong and fewer people; skip the guided tour if you prefer to sit quietly with a coffee and people-watch. Bring water and comfortable shoes—there’s almost no shade on the main lawns at midday. Don’t bother with the small on-site café; eat before or after in the nearby colonies instead.
