Is Lover's Beach Worth It in Los Cabos?

Lover's Beach (Playa del Amor) is a small, beautiful stretch of sand tucked between rocky cliffs at the tip of the Baja peninsula, reachable only by boat. The typical tour takes you past the famous El Arco rock formation, drops you for 45-60 minutes on the beach, then returns via the Pacific side with views of sea lions if you're lucky. The water is usually calm on the Sea of Cortez side but can be choppy; don't expect a long, relaxing beach day. Most people find the scenery impressive but the actual beach time short and crowded, especially when multiple boats arrive together.

Best time is November through April when seas are calmer and temperatures are pleasant. Summer and early fall bring hotter weather and rougher water that can cancel trips or make the ride unpleasant. Expect to pay around $60–$130 per person depending on whether you choose a basic shared boat, a smaller group tour, or one with drinks and a meal. Private charters for couples or small groups sit at the higher end.

Tip: Pick a smaller boat or semi-private tour if you can; it reduces the cattle-call feeling and gives you more time on the sand. Skip the glass-bottom boat option unless you really want to see fish — the water clarity at the arch is often mediocre and the boats are slow. Bring water shoes; the beach has sharp rocks and shells.
