It's genuinely impressive when a big ship comes through, but the experience is more engineering spectacle than thrill ride. Crowds can form on the decks during transits, and the cafeteria food is average at best.

Best time to go is the dry season (January to April) when rain won't ruin your photos. Ships usually transit in the morning and mid-afternoon; check the current schedule at the entrance. Expect to pay around $15-40 per person total, depending on whether you just buy observation deck access or join a basic guided tour that includes transport from Panama City. Taxis or rideshares from downtown are straightforward and often cheaper than organized tours.
